General Description
This position provides data engineering support to the Department of Commerce (DOC), International Trade Administration (ITA). The successful candidate will design, maintain, and optimize enterprise data pipelines, ETL workflows, APIs, and AI-ready cloud data services supporting ITA AI initiatives. This includes supporting/performing requirements analysis, planning, design, deployment and ongoing operations management and technical support all while employing SAFe agile practices.
Duties and responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting application integration planning and implementation, application data migration, application data labeling and engineering, ensuring AI-ready data and taxonomies, and maintaining data, ETL, and APIs. Other specifics include:
The successful candidate will have knowledge in the following areas:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field.
Professional Certifications
None required but Azure Data Engineer Associate preferred.
Clearance Required
Must have completed or be able to complete a Tier 1 National Agency Check and be successfully adjudicated to occupy a Public Trust position.
Experience
Minimum of 5 to 8 years’ experience performing in a data engineering role.
U.S. Citizen or Similar
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Other Characteristics (e.g., Personal or Language)
Excellent oral, written, and communication in English. Must be able to work in a team environment with members that include personnel from other companies, Government program management and administrative personnel, and technical staff members. Must be able to perform with minimal management oversight and have strong time management skills.
Working conditions, including location
Hybrid - Remote / Washington, DC as required.
Client duty hours are Monday through Friday.
Salary
$135 to 165k Annually

- Manage cloud-based data ingestion and transformation pipelines
- Support analytics, machine learning, and AI initiatives
- Implement scalable and secure data architectures
- Monitor and optimize data workloads and automation
The successful candidate will have knowledge in the following areas:
- Knowledge and expertise supporting enterprise data engineering.
- Experience with various analytics platforms.
- Experience with cloud data services.
- Knowledge and expertise supporting multiple AI/ML initiatives.
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, SQL Server, APIs, Python, Power BI, ETL orchestration, and Dev/Sec/Ops practices
- Knowledge of how to diagnose problems, think critically, organize information, and develop optimal solutions for complex issues.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field.
